Thank you for your interest in ProMaker Utils. This is a FileMaker Pro™ productivity tool for enhancing working with ScriptMaker™.
For users that update from a previous version: Please read the Getting Started file for a desciption of new features.
What ProMaker Utils can do for you:
If you are a FileMaker Pro 3.0 or 4.0 user or developer and write ScriptMaker scripts this small application can save you a lot of time. ProMaker Utils makes it possible to paste an entire ScriptMaker script (all steps) from a TEXT file into a FileMaker script. No more clicking until your hands hurt, just enter them in one go!
How does it work?
- Open FileMaker Pro and the script you want to paste the steps in.
- Use ProMaker Utils to open a TEXT file with the script-steps in it (some sample text files are included).
- Enter the complete script by pressing command-E.
ProMaker Utils will bring FileMaker to the front and start pasting the steps into the selected script. It is that simple.
Who wrote it?
ProMaker Utils was written by Peter Baanen of Troi Automatisering. If you want to contact me you can send an email to: peter@troi.nl. Or visit our Web site at: <http://www.euronet.nl/users/troi>.

Where can I get the latest version and more information?
The latest versions of our software are available for downloading at our Web site: <http://www.euronet.nl/users/troi>
Here you will also find late breaking information, company information, FileMaker tips and more. The software will also be posted to info-mac (and its mirrors). Go to: <http://www.pht.com/info-mac> or <http://hyperarchive.lcs.mit.edu/HyperArchive.html>
System Requirements
Macintosh with 68030 or better or Power Macintosh.
System 7.1 or later.
ProMaker Utils requires 600 Kb of RAM.
ProMaker Utils has been tested on the upcoming 8.0 release.
ProMaker Utils doesn't use a patch or an extension so no potential conflicts there.
Of course you need a copy of FileMaker Pro, this should be a version 3.0v4 or 4.0. This may be US version or any other Language.
IMPORTANT: Please update FileMaker to 3.0v4 or 4.0: At the moment no support for older versions is given. You should update FileMaker 3.0 to the 3.0v4 version before using ProMaker Utils (updating is a good idea anyway, as it fixes some nasty bugs). These updaters can be found at: <http://www.claris.com/software> or at <ftp:.claris.com/pub>.
What ProMaker Utils does not (yet):
At the moment ProMaker Utils can not get a script out of FileMaker. This can be done by the excellent Text Capture FKEY from James W. Walker.
You can get it from our site or at the following source: <http://hyperarchive.lcs.mit.edu/HyperArchive/Archive/text/text-capture-23-fkey.hqx>
This means that you are free to test the program before you pay. You may also make copies of the original and complete package (including this Read Me file) and distribute it to friends etc. However, you may not distribute a modified or registered version.
Although ProMaker was tested carefully, we can not be responsible for any damages resulting from using this software. Also please try it out on a test database. Your system may be using an extension (unknown to us) that interferes with the proper functioning of ProMaker.
What are the costs?
ProMaker Utils has the following pricing:
1- 19 single user licenses, $15 per user
20-49 single user licenses, $12 per user
50+ single user licenses, $10 per user
A Site License costs $500 (roughly equal to 50 users) and covers all locations for your organization within a 160 kilometer radius of your site (100 miles). One big advantage of a Site License is that you do not need to keep track of how many people at your site are using the software.
A World-Wide License costs $2000 and it covers all locations for your organization on the planet earth.
How to pay?
Paying for ProMaker Utils is fairly simple. There are 2 ways to pay:
1) Pay Kagi with the enclosed Register program
2) Pay Troi Automatisering directly (only for users in the Netherlands)
1) Pay Kagi with the enclosed Register program
Open the Register program that accompanies ProMaker Utils. Enter your name, your email address, and the number of single user licenses you desire for each program you wish to purchase (or Site or Word-Wide licenses). Save or Copy or Print the data from the Register program and send the data and payment to Kagi. More specifics on the Register program to follow. Kagi handles my payment processing.
If paying with Credit Card or First Virtual, you can email or fax the data to Kagi. Their email address is sales@kagi.com and their fax number is +1 510 652-6589. You can either Copy the data from Register and paste into the body of an email message or you can Save the data to a file and you can attach that file to an email message. There is no need to compress the data file, it's already pretty small. If you have a fax modem, just Print the data to the Kagi fax number.
Payments sent via email are processed within 3 to 4 days. You will receive an email acknowledgment when it is processed. Payments sent via fax take up to 10 days and if you provide a correct internet email address you will receive an email acknowledgment.
If you are paying with Cash or USD Check you should print the data using the Register application and send it to the address shown on the form, which is:
Kagi
1442-A Walnut Street #392-5I
Berkeley, California 94709-1405
USA
You can pay with a wide variety of cash from different countries but at present if you pay via check, it must be a check drawn in US Dollars. Kagi cannot accept checks in other currencies, the conversion rate for non-USD checks is around USD 15 per check and that is just not practical.
If you have a purchasing department, you can enter all the data into the Register program and then select Invoice as your payment method. Print three copies of the form and send it to your accounts payable people. You might want to highlight the line that mentions that they must include a copy of the form with their payment. Kagi can not invoice your company, you need to act on my behalf and generate the invoice and handle all the paperwork on your end.
Please do not fax or email payment forms that indicate Cash, Check or Invoice as the payment method. As far as we know, there is still no technology to transfer physical objects via fax or email and without the payment, the form cannot be processed.
Payments send via postal mail take time to reach Kagi and then up to 10 days for processing. Again, if you include a correct email address, you will hear from Kagi when the form is processed.
2) Pay Troi Automatisering directly
(only for users in The Netherlands)
Please use option 1 (Pay Kagi) if you live outside the Netherlands.
But if you live in The Netherlands you can pay as follows:
Use the following rates:
1- 19 single user licenses, NLG 30 per user
20-49 single user licenses, NLG 25 per user
50+ single user licenses, NLG 20 per user
Site License NLG 1000
A World-Wide License NLG 4000.
Please pay the appropriate amount to:
Bank Name: Postbank NV, Amsterdam
Postgiro Account number: 72.29.209
Troi Automatisering
Vuurlaan 18
2408 NB Alphen a/d Rijn
The Netherlands
To indicate for which software you are paying, add this remark:
“5IPROM (ProMaker Utils)”
Protection and Unlocking the application
ProMaker Utils has a protection scheme and when you pay, Troi Automatisering will tell you how to indicate to ProMaker Utils that you have paid the registration fee.
If you do not have an email address, please enter your complete postal address and remember, we do not know what country you live in so please enter that into the postal address also.
After Registering the following is changed:
- the ‘unregistered’ warning is replaced by your name.
- the startup delay (which is longer after 30 days of use) will be removed.
- you can now save the preferences.
Bug reports and Wish list
If you find a bug, please report this by e-mail: peter@troi.nl. I have a long wish list of features that are lacking. I hope to address them in future versions:
- Grab a script from FileMaker
- Also paste the remaining parameters of a script
- Archive the scripts.
- Help file
If you pay the shareware fee my wishes may come true after all...
